Pick up/drop off locations: In Utsjoki, we pick you up (and drop you off) from your door, anywhere within 3km of Utsjoki centre. This includes Arctic Resort, Hotel Utsjoki, Lomatärppi, Lomakylä Valle, Airbnb, etc.

It’s a 25 minute drive from Utsjoki in our vehicle, then we’ll do a small hike to the ice falls, which are situated on the other side of a frozen lake. The walk itself is quite easy, only about 500 metres each way across the lake, but it is a bit hilly getting down to the lake, so if you have mobility issues, you may find it tough (although we are here to help!). If you have a normal level of fitness (eg, you can walk around Ikea for an hour) then it’s nothing too strenuous. Children can also do it if they don’t mind walking a bit, I’d say age 6 or 7 should be fine. The ice falls are a dynamic thing that change throughout the winter, so sometimes it might look epic and sometimes it might be covered in a lot of snow, we won’t know until we get there. You can walk up close and get pictures stood right next to it. On sunny days there is an incredible blue tint to it, like in the picture.

In total, from picking you up, seeing the ice falls and dropping you back off, it’s about 2 hours total. So a nice quick and easy activity to do one day when you are in the Utsjoki area. As usual, like all our activities, we can pick you up from any accommodation within 3km of Utsjoki centre and drop you back off there afterwards. That is included in the price! Welcome!
