Pick up/drop off locations: In Utsjoki, we pick you up (and drop you off) from your door, anywhere within 3km of Utsjoki centre. This includes Arctic Resort, Hotel Utsjoki, Lomatärppi, Lomakylä Valle, Airbnb, etc.
Well if you have come all this way to the top of Finland, you may as well get photo evidence right? There is a marker stone about 45km drive from Utsjoki village which marks the most northern point in Finland and also the EU. It’s nothing too special, just a small rock by the side of the road, but it does make for a cool picture and thats what matters right. But we drive up along the river with nice views, so it’s a nice drive in itself. We will also stop at the Vetsikko ice falls along the way. There is a book you can sign when we reach the marker stone. If you are into geocaching (remember that!) there is the northern most geocache in the EU in this area too which you can check off while you are here.
A couple km up the road there is an official ice road across the Teno river which we might also visit. But this is just considered a bonus because it might not be open when you are here. It is usually open from 1st January until April, so if you come before then it’s porbably not open. Also it does depend on the group size, because there is a weight limit on the ice road and we can’t go on it with our big bus if we have a big group, but if we have smaller groups, we can do it. So we can’t guarantee the ice road part of the tour until on the day really. But we love visiting it, so we really try our best to include it on this trip.
Overall, this is an awesome day out to really get a feel for the local area, so if you are staying in Utsjoki, you should really consider it.
